![]() I imagine tolerances would be pretty good when milling PCB's but slightly worse when milling aluminium as it's a tougher material but as long as they're smaller than +/-1mm when milling Aluminium I'm fine with that. ![]() So even if a small heatsink mount took 12 hours to mill that's way faster than what I'd would normally have to wait. My main reason for building one in the first place is to be able manufacture one off PCB's for my other hobbies and the occasional heatsink mount out of aluminium (20mm thick maximum) for custom circuits without having to rely on cheap chinese manufacturing companies that take months for the things to be delivered from. I'm not looking for anything fancy or extremely accurate or that lets me cut really really fast, just something that gets the job done eventually. I asked on a CNC discord server a while back and all the recommendations I got were spindles well over £100 which is way out of my budget and the spindles looked like they'd be way more than anything I'd ever need for my use cases. I'm working on designing a small CNC mill (cutting volume of about 25cm*25cm*10cm) and I've got to the stage where I need to decide on a spindle so I can start designing the toolhead mount. ![]()
